Smt. Sheila Rubin
Founder-director of the Natyananda school and company in
Birmingham, Sheila Rubin learned from Padma Bhushan’s Sri VP
Dhananjayan and Smt. Shanta Dhananjayan and graduated from
Bharata Kalanjali in 1971. She performed extensively with the

and well–define art form to transcend cultural and ideological
barriers, clarifying and communicating essential human truths. This
research has bore fruit in the choreography and production of nine full
dance dramas and twenty-two individual choreography with artists in
Spanish, Middle Eastern, African, and Modern dance. Sheila has also
explored and expressed artistically both commonalities and contrasts
between cultures.
Reviews
“(Sheila has) the gift of understanding an alien art and
identifying with its spirit…the gift to perform the chosen art
in the manner of the seasoned artiste and the excellence that
communicates to a larger audience… Her background in
ballet was evident in the finesse of her movements…poised
and precise…won a thunderous ovation”.
